01 Aug 🎨Shared on Behalf of Swindon Open Studios 🎨 Also Featuring Wroughton Artists! 🎨 🤩 👏👏👏
After a 2-year break, Swindon Open Studios is back this September. It is a free community exhibition celebrating the talents of local artists, during which they invite members of the public into their studios/ homes for a chance to see where and how their art is made, with a chance to buy original, affordable pieces. The event is a great opportunity for our many individual artists to raise awareness about what they do and a chance for them to connect with others through their creative pursuits. With over 50 artists taking part, the studios are as eclectic and individual as the makers and there is a tremendous choice for visitors, so please do go along and support the creativity in your local neighbourhood.
We are lucky that this year’s participants include several local Wroughton artists:
Mary Thorne is a potter whose ceramics reflect her love of the Wiltshire Landscape.
Stephen Gilmore is a professional, prize-winning Artist who has painted many celebrity portraits. His life’s work is his absolute total obsession with the landscape of the Downlands and wild places of southern England.
Rhianon Beardsall creates colourful, contemporary mosaics and joyful vibrant paintings inspired by nature.
Aradhna Rastogi loves to use bright and bold colours in her paintings which have influence from traditional art.
Kate Wade is inspired by all aspects of the natural world and currently focused on producing larger paintings of the local countryside in watercolour.
John Maskalaniec is an environmental sculptor and painter, basing his work on current affairs.
Mary Mathews creates a range of items in glass and enjoys sharing her passion and knowledge about this material.
This year Open Studios will be taking place across Swindon and the surrounding areas over the two weekends of Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th September and Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th September. Please see the website for specific times, artists, and venues.
