Listers roundabout – overnight closures

Listers roundabout – overnight closures

Update From Cllr Cathy Martyn

Lister Road/ Swindon Road Roundabout – provisional overnight closure for 2 nights starting 6th October 2022 between 8pm-6am for improvement works to slow vehicle speeds on the approach to the junction

Councillors David Martyn, Brian Ford & I have been advised that the purpose of this scheme is to amend the existing layout of the roundabout in order to slow vehicle speeds on their approach to the junctions. The works will include re-surfacing, adjustment of existing levels, additional signage and modifying the existing road marking layout on the approaches to the roundabout, providing a safer and better running surface for all road users.

The works are provisionally programmed to commence on 6th October 2022 for two nights between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 under road closure. However, we’ve also been advised that they may over run slightly due to circumstances outside of their control such as plant breakdowns, if weather conditions are unfavourable, or occasionally if they discover the need for additional repairs once the work has started.

Notification signs will be erected and letters delivered in advance by the Contractor to let residents know when the works will take place in the area. The signs will be updated should dates be revised due to any unforeseen issues.

The workforce will maintain pedestrian access for the duration; however due to the nature of the works, some disruption is possible and vehicular access may need to be restricted at times. It is essential that areas remain un-trafficked until the new material has set, as early use could lead to premature failure. As such, these works will be undertaken in phases.

We’ve been told that site operatives will be available on site at all times during the works, and will assist in dealing with any access problems or queries that may arise.

If you have any questions about these works, please email one of us, contact details below.

Swindon Borough Council apologises for any inconvenience that these works may cause. These works are necessary to maintain Swindon’s highway network. Thankyou.

Cathy
