11 Jul Proposed Works for Priors Hill
The below was communicated from SBC Highways Department:
Dear Sir/Madam,
I write to inform you of the upcoming resurfacing works along Priors Hill. The site extent can be viewed on the attached plan.
The purpose of the scheme is to replace the deteriorating surface of the carriageway in order to increase its life span and to provide a safer and better running surface for motorists.
The works are provisionally programmed to commence from Monday 17th July 2023 for 5 days, between the hours of 08:00 – 17:00. However, these durations may over run slightly due to uncontrolled circumstances such as unfavourable weather conditions or the need to carry out additional repairs discovered during the construction works. No weekend working is planned for this scheme.
Due to the nature of the works and the local environment, the works will be carried out within a road closure to ensure that adequate health & safety is maintained for the Contractor & local residents. Please note that the order and sequence of the patching will be determined by the Contractor.
Due to the location of the works, there are no official diversion routes, and that residents/road users are to find an alternative route.
The work force will maintain pedestrian and vehicular access for the duration; however due to the nature of the works, some disruption is possible and will be restricted at times. It is essential that the areas remain un-trafficked until the new material has set, as early use could lead to premature failure.
Letter drops will be carried out and notification signs will be erected in advance by the Contractor to let residents know when works will take place. Should the works overrun due to unforeseen circumstances, the Contractor will revise the dates on the notification signs accordingly.
I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience that these works may cause, but trust you will appreciate the necessity for these essential works to maintain Swindon’s highway network.
