14 Feb New Bus Shelters in Wroughton
We have installed two new bus shelters – one on Wharf Road travelling west before you reach Maunsell Way and another near to Mill Close on Perry’s Lane. The locations for these were selected following a public consultation process with residents, Swindon Borough Council and the bus company last September. The shelters were financed by some community infrastructure monies received by the parish council from Linden Homes relating to the development of ‘The Grange’.
We were unable to locate the new Wharf Road bus shelter on the Ashen Copse side of the road as the land there is privately owned by a resident.
We have been advised by the bus company that they encourage either westbound or eastbound passengers in the vicinity to use the newly installed shelter on Wharf Road if it is raining. Residents can get onto the bus and loop around Wroughton to access their desired direction whilst staying dry and warm.
From time to time Wroughton Parish Council has access to discretionary community infrastructure monies (CIL) which it is able to use for community benefit. We are interested to hear from our residents about which priorities within our remit are important to them and encourage you all to respond to our consultations as they arise. It is very unlikely that the parish council will spend further monies on bus shelters within the village in the near future as it also needs to consider other public spaces, facilities and services within the community.
