SBC Update – Marlborough Road Closure

SBC Update – Marlborough Road Closure

Marlborough Road in Wroughton, between Wanshot Close and Three Tuns Roundabout, has closed today (Monday 10 Jan) for 12 weeks to allow Conlon Ltd and Instalcom to undertake crucial infrastructure work for the new data centre and the Bellway development.
Although these works are not being carried out by the Council we have been working with delivery partners to make sure there is as little disruption as possible for this closure.
Combining the work for multiple essential improvements has meant it can be carried out over a 12-week period rather than the original estimate of a year.
Stagecoach West will be providing a revised bus timetable for Service 81/82 incorporating its Ridgeway School journey for the duration of this road closure and anyone using the service should check the bus company’s website and social media for the latest information.
Swindon’s Bus Company is operating its bus routes as normal with the exception of the R23 serving Bishopstone, Hinton Parva, Wanborough, Chisledon and Thorney Park to Ridgeway School, which will run 20 minutes earlier in the morning.
Residents in Thorney Park and Alexandra Park who have difficulty in accessing public transport will be able to use the Steps for You service provided by Akcess by calling 01793 677191
The diversion for the works is through Swindon via Moormead Road, Swindon Road, Pipers Way, Marlborough Road, A419, A346, New Road, Hodson Road, Brimble Hill and vice-versa.
Access will still be maintained for homes and businesses. Marlborough Road will be accessible via the Three Tuns Roundabout, Wanshot Close residents can get access from the south via the B4005 Brimble Hill and Bakers Road and Greens Lane residents will have access from Priors Hill.
There will be no access from Marlborough Road to Bakers Road or Greens Lane.
Special arrangements have been put in place so that waste and recycling collections can continue to be made for this area for the duration of the work.
