Telephone Box Restoration

Telephone Box Restoration

Wroughton Parish Council will be renovating two of its telephone boxes over the next few months, please keep an eye on the website for developments.

The traditional K6 style telephone box positioned at Maskeleyne Way is in a poor condition, the Council are going to restore this to its original state and allow room for stain glass art work to be created and displayed.

Positioned at Woodland View there is a K8 style telephone box from the 1970s, these are rare and only 12 left nationally, 3 of which are in Swindon. The current telephone box is in a poor condition and also a listed item meaning there are restrictions in what can be done. The Council is investigating flower planting options 🌹🌸🌼🌻🌷 that could be housed within the telephone box to make this an attractive item upon arrival into the village.

The Council have noted the interest from members of the public wanting to help with renovations, unfortunately any works will need to be carried out by a professional company. The Council will approach the public further once flower planting options 🌹🌸🌼🌻🌷 are available to be implemented and it will be welcoming new volunteers to come forward 🙂👏
